Apparently Jon’s unit has gone ashore at Aqaba, Jordan on the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba. I’m not sure exactly when the pictures were taken, or why they are making this particular stop, but it must have been in the last two or three days. Best guess is they’re training with the Jordanian military for a little bit, since they’re obviously offloading more equipment than for just a regular port stop. Also, that was the reason for 26th MEU’s port stop back in August 2005 when al-Qaida attempted to attack the ships with a few rockets.
