The Desert Quartet

We’re Stephen and Elisabeth Moody {with little Silas and Cooper in tow}.P3

On Labor Day 2009 we loaded up all our belongings in a Penske truck and headed out West on the old Route 66 to move to Phoenix, Arizona. welcometoarizonaGod put a desire in our hearts back when we were an engaged couple to someday come out West to help a small church. Through the Arch Ministries’ annual church planting conference held at Grace Church of Mentor, OH, we were connected with several men who were planting churches in the Southwest.

After seeking guidance from the Lord and taking a survey trip, we decided to partner with Pastor Ryan Horkavy and Crossroad Baptist Church of Buckeye, AZ. Buckeye is the far western suburb of Phoenix, and it is slated to eventually surpass Phoenix in size. Through the grace of God, Ryan and Jen Horkavy began Crossroad Baptist in August of 2008 at the Veraddo Middle School. The church was incorporated with 24 charter members on July 26, 2009. We are grateful to be a part of the CBC family!

Stephen is currently employed as a Field Engineer with Green Loop IT Solutions. He travels all over the valley rectifying client computer issues. Driving in Phoenix traffic is a daily hair-raising experience! Elisabeth loves being a stay-at-home-mom and celebrating each day with our sons, Silas and Cooper.

We previously lived in Anderson, Indiana, where Stephen taught science, math, and computer at Indiana Christian Academy, a ministry of Grace Baptist Church. He was also the network administrator for both ICA and GBC. Elisabeth taught 6th grade at ICA for two years (2006-2008), and then moved to a new position in the church as the secretary.

In our spare time, we love to travel and explore new places. We are always up for an adventure! Elisabeth enjoys hiking, decorating, cooking, and playing music, and Stephen spends lots of time tinkering with technology and reading history.

Stephen grew up in Daleville, Indiana just outside of Anderson. He is the oldest of seven siblings and graduated from ICA where he later taught several of his siblings.littlestephen2

Elisabeth was raised in the hills of “wild, wonderful” West Virginia (Fairmont, WV) and is one of four girls. While growing up, she traveled with her family across the US and Canada holding services at various churches and camps.elisabeth02ab

We met at Bob Jones University, where Stephen earned a Physics degree in 2004 and Elisabeth a Social Studies Education degree in 2005. Stephen went on to earn a M.S. in Physics from Clemson University in the summer of 2006 while Elisabeth spent the 2005-2006 school year teaching high school social studies at Westside Christian School in St. George, Utah. After dating for over 4 years, we (finally) got married on August 4th, 2006! 32kissthebrideSilas Clark Moody joined our family on November 2nd, 2010. What a joy our son is (and what a cutie!) God is good to bless us with the gift of parenthood.

Our mini Cooper Andrew arrived on November 27, 2012, giving Silas a little brother and filling our hearts with more love than we thought possible.

We serve an ever-merciful and an incredibly powerful God who chooses to glorify Himself through mere people. One of our favorite Bible verses is Romans 8:32 which says,

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?jan1003
